About Us

B. Sure Home Inspection Co. was established in February, 1993 by Bernie Caliendo. Bernie has inspected homes and properties throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont. Homes  ranging in age from new construction to over 255 years old. All residential construction types have been inspected including: stick & balloon wood framed, steel stud framed, concrete & glass structures, masonry structures, post & beam and log cabin types. Bernie also inspects dual use & light commercial type buildings.

His experience of over 20 years in the construction and remodeling business has brought him a wealth of knowledge on various building construction techniques, systems and components. All facets of construction were performed in residential and light commercial projects.

After graduating in 1993 from the Home Inspection Institute of America in Wallingford,  Connecticut. Bernie maintained certification for 5 years after which he was designated a "Senior Certified Home Inspector". He now holds the designation of "Lifetime Senior Certified Home Inspector" by the Institute.

Bernie was appointed by the Governor of Connecticut in 1999 to serve on the newly created CT Home Inspection Licensing Board. In 2003, he was appointed Chairman of the Licensing Board and served in that capacity from 2003 to 2008. Bernie was instrumental in drafting many of the rules and regulations that govern the home inspection profession in Connecticut today, and was instrumental in initiating resiprocity for continuing education credits for license renewal between Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Bernie sits on the CT Deptment of Public Health (DPH) and American Lung Association )ALA)- Radon Coalition group and serves as the education committee chairperson.

Bernie has participated as a subject matter expert in writing and evaluating exam questions & content for; The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI)- on the National Home Inspector Exam, assisted with development & content for Experior - on the CT Home Inspector Exam, and  with PSI in development, content, wrting and evaluation on the current CT Home Inspector Licensing Exam.

Bernie continues to attend continuing education courses and seminars on home inspection, construction, insect infestation & damage, along with environmental issues  including: Radon in Air and Water; Water Quality: Analysis & Flow; and Indoor Air Quality including Mold contamination.. Bernie teaches continuing education courses to home inspectors from time to time and consults home inspectors and interns on the requirements for home inspection licensure and rules and regulations in Connecticut.
